Any animal you bond with will have a memory of you--they also remember those who abuse them, this has been documented of elephants dating back to 1700's.

Actually, I read that in a book about circus life and its animals. The author is Ballantine, the book, I believe is called Wild Tigers, Tame Fleas. You can then look up the elephant's names and there is stories on the Internet. The book is at home, otherwise, I would give you some names and you could research that. Jumbo was one of the elephants but I don't believe he killed anyone.

Sure, I have to remember to come back here and check posts. Beware, some of the stuff you'll see on the net is quite disturbing regarding the photos.

The last link is for Mary the elephant--horrible what they did to her.
